Classical Tibetan 1
Sat, 12 April – Wed, 16 April 2025 (5 days)
In cooperation with the University of Malaga (UMA), the International Institute for Tibetan and Asian Studies (ITAS) is offering a five-day intensive Tibetan language course. We are happy to offer a possibility to get started with Classical Tibetan. The course can be attended on-site or online.
During these five packed days, our lectures and tutorials will help you understand the basics of Classical Tibetan grammar.
Prerequisite: Knowledge of the Tibetan alphabet and Wylie transliteration as taught in our course about the Tibetan alphabet. If you have not taken this course, ITAS can provide you with the material for self-study. Just write to us via info@itas-uni.eu.
Date: 12 to 16 April 2025 (5 days)
Lecture: 10am-1pm CEST (every day)
Tutorial: 4pm-7pm CEST (every day)
Online exam: some weeks after the course (exact date to be determined)
All sessions will be recorded and made accessible to the participants of the course at least until the exam date.
Credits: 2 ECTS points

Reduced price: 200€
Students on a low budget who struggle financially to take part in the course, may apply for the reduced price via the scholarship section in the registration form. A committee will decide about the applications for the reduced price before you receive the payment link.
Course requirements: fluent spoken English, knowledge of Tibetan alphabet Wylie transliteration

Please note, that this course is (almost) directly followed by the course “Classical Tibetan 2”. We strongly recommend taking this one as well. Otherwise, you might have to wait a long time until we start another cycle of these courses. See further information about it here:
This course is the first in a series of Classical Tibetan courses which we plan to offer in the coming months and years.

If you consider taking the on-site option, please note that between the courses Classical Tibetan 1 and Classical Tibetan 2, there is a Buddhist course with Lama Jigme Rinpoche in the Buddhist Center Karma Guen.
